What Are Powder Brows?

Soft shading—not a solid block of color.

Powder Brows are a form of permanent makeup that uses a tattoo machine to place tiny pixels of pigment throughout the brow.

Rather than creating individual hairstrokes, the technique builds soft shading that can range from airy and subtle to more polished and defined.

Powder Brows vs. Ombre Brows

The terms are often used interchangeably. Ombre Brows usually describe a Powder Brow style where the front is kept softer and the color gradually becomes more defined through the body and tail.

Real Brow Results

See the brow—not just the fresh tattoo.

Fresh permanent makeup is darker and more defined than the final result. The healed work matters because that is what you actually live with.

Why Clients Choose Powder Brows

You may love Powder Brows if...

You fill in your brows most mornings.

Powder Brows can give the brows a consistent shape and softly filled-in appearance before you reach for a pencil or powder.

Your brows feel sparse or uneven.

Soft shading can create more balance through areas where natural brow hair is missing, uneven or lighter in density.

You like definition without individual strokes.

If you prefer the look of a softly polished brow rather than a hairstroke-only finish, Powder Brows may be a strong option.

Not sure? You do not have to choose your technique before booking. Your Brow Lady artist will evaluate your skin, natural hair, existing brows and desired result at your appointment. If Nano or Combo Brows would suit you better, we will explain why.

Frequently Asked Questions

Powder Brow questions, answered.

What are Powder Brows?

Powder Brows are a permanent makeup technique that uses machine shading to place tiny pixels of pigment throughout the brow. The result can range from very soft and airy to more defined, depending on the client's preference.

Are Powder Brows and Ombre Brows the same thing?

The terms are often used interchangeably. Ombre Brows usually describe a Powder Brow style with a lighter front and gradually stronger definition through the body and tail.

Can Powder Brows look natural?

Yes. Powder Brows do not have to look heavy. The amount of shading, color choice and brow shape can be customized so the healed result looks soft and flattering rather than blocky.

Are Powder Brows good for oily skin?

Powder Brows are often considered for clients with oily or combination skin because machine shading can be more predictable than hairstroke-only techniques for some skin types. Final candidacy should still be determined by your artist.

What is the difference between Powder Brows and microblading?

Powder Brows use a permanent makeup machine to create soft shading. Traditional microblading uses a manual tool to create hairstrokes. If you want individual hair-like texture, your artist may discuss Nano Brows or Combo Brows instead.

Powder Brows vs. Nano Brows: which should I choose?

Powder Brows create shading and definition, while Nano Brows create machine hairstrokes. The right choice depends on your skin, natural brow hair, previous permanent makeup and the type of healed result you want.

Do I need to choose Powder Brows before my appointment?

No. If you are booking a Brow Lady brow appointment, your artist can evaluate your brows and help you choose between Powder, Nano or Combo Brows before the procedure begins.

How long do Powder Brows last?

Powder Brows gradually fade over time. Retention varies based on skin type, skincare, sun exposure, lifestyle, pigment, aftercare and individual healing. Maintenance timing is different for every client.

How long do Powder Brows take to heal?

The surface changes most noticeably during the first 7–10 days, but the pigment continues settling beneath the skin afterward. The healed result is generally easier to evaluate around 4–6 weeks.

Can you work over my old microblading or eyebrow tattoo?

Sometimes. Previous permanent makeup must be reviewed first. Dark, saturated, discolored or uneven pigment may limit what can safely be added and may require fading or another plan before a new procedure.

How much do Powder Brows cost at Brow Lady?

Current Powder Brow pricing varies by artist. Sokkha is $775 and Cindy is $525. Pricing may change, so confirm the current amount when booking.
